Have you learned CPR but it was many years ago? Or maybe your CPR card is now expired?
Please consider being part of the Hastings Heart Restart program. This is a community wide initiative to train 10% of the population of Hastings in “compressions only” CPR. No worry about doing the breaths – just recognize that CPR is needed, make sure someone calls 911 and someone gets an AED (automated external defibrillator) if one is available while you begin compressions. That’s it!
You can learn in 22 minutes!
Sudden Cardiac Arrest has no warning signs. It doesn’t care how old you are – it may be the 12 year old soccer player, or the 53 year old father of triplets. It is the leading cause of death in the United States; more than 250,000 people die each year. More than 4,500 cases were reported in Minnesota in 2008.
The only recourse we have is early recognition of the event, getting help, an AED and beginning CPR.
The life you may help save could be someone you love!
